This is a video work created by conversations between Liam Gillick and fellow artists at the end of the 1990s. The young artists gathered in Monte Carlo, Monaco, near the Mediterranean, talk about various topics such as politics, aesthetics, and idealism. As the title ‘Vicinato’, which means ‘neighbor’ in Italian, reflects, the participants of this conversation who discuss the possibility of another form of art are depicted as friends who leisurely mingle with one another.
